Vaccinations
Vaccinations and parasite prevention are vital for your pet's overall wellness. We carry essential vaccinations for both cats and dogs to keep them healthy and protected.
Our feline companions receive vaccinations that cover Feline Rhinotracheitis, Panleukopenia, Calicivirus, Chlamydia, and Rabies. Outside cats also receive Feline Leukaemia Virus vaccination. It's important for cats to begin their vaccination course at 10-12 weeks, followed by a booster vaccine four weeks later. Re-vaccination is performed 12 months later, then every 2-3 years on-going.
For our canine companions, we offer essential vaccinations including Rabies, Bordetella, Parainfluenza, Canine Distemper, Parvovirus, and Adenovirus types 1 and 2. In response to positive cases of Leptospirosis detected in nearby British Columbia, we are now also offering this important vaccine to ensure your pets stay protected. Vaccines for puppies should start at 8 weeks of age, with boosters at 12 weeks and 16 weeks. An annual booster is given and then vaccines are continued every 1, 2 and 3 years (varies between vaccines).
Consultations
Welcome to our wellness consultations for pets! We specialize in providing personalized care for dogs, cats, exotic pets, and birds. Our flexible appointment times are designed to meet your pet's specific needs. We have ample time for diagnostics if required. During your consultation, we will present all available options for your pet's care and encourage you to ask questions, helping you make the best decision for your furry, scaled or feathered friend.
In-House Diagnostics & Imaging
At the Bellevue Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to offer a range of in-house diagnostic machines, including blood, biochemistry, and urine analyzers, to ensure your pet receives timely and accurate diagnoses. Our digital x-ray technology is essential for orthopedic and emergency cases, providing crucial insights into your pet's gastrointestinal and bone health. We are also excited to announce that we now offer ultrasound imaging right here in our clinic, further enhancing our diagnostic capabilities for your furry friends. Your pet's health is our top priority, and we are here to provide the best care possible.
Dentistry
At our clinic, we understand that dental hygiene is crucial for your pets' overall health. We recommend annual dental checks to ensure their teeth and gums remain in top condition. Our comprehensive services range from routine cleanings to surgical extractions of crowded, decaying, or fractured teeth. With thorough procedures performed under anesthetic, we provide oral charting, probing, radiographs, scaling, polishing, and local anesthesia blocks as needed for extractions, ensuring your pet receives the best, pain free care possible.
Geriatric & Palliative Care
At our clinic, we understand that elderly pets require special attention as they age. We prioritize safe geriatric pet medicine and recommend routine senior blood panels to monitor their health. As your beloved companion enters their twilight years, we focus on keeping them comfortable and maintaining a good quality of life through tailored treatments, including environmental modifications, physiotherapy, and medications. When the time comes, we offer compassionate support with in-clinic or at-home euthanasia, ensuring your pet receives the utmost respect and care as they cross the rainbow bridge. We offer after-life options including cremation, ink or clay paw prints and other special keepsakes.
Microchipping
Microchipping your pet is a crucial step in ensuring their safe return if they ever go missing. The process is quick and easy, requiring just a visit to our office. We will register the chip and provide you with a tag that documents your pet's unique identifier number. Remember, while microchips are essential for identification, they must be scanned to be read and are not tracking devices.
Wildlife Services
At our clinic, we are dedicated to the care of companion animals and the treatment of injured wildlife. Our team is committed to providing relief from suffering and ensuring that all creatures receive the compassionate care they deserve. If you encounter a wild animal in need, your kindness can make a difference — please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Parasite Prevention & Deworming
Keep your furry friends safe from pesky parasites with our range of effective prevention options. We offer preventatives for 1 to 6 months of coverage, available in topical applications and chewable forms. Some of the top brands we carry include Bravecto, Revolution Plus, and Simparica Trio. If you have a specific preventative in mind, we can also special order it just for you!
Routine deworming is essential for all pets, regardless of their lifestyle. For kittens and puppies, we recommend deworming every two weeks until they are 12 weeks old, followed by monthly treatments until they reach six months. For adult pets, ongoing deworming every three months is advisable. Even if you do not see worms in your pets stool, regular deworming is critical to keep internal parasite numbers low, avoiding clinical disease.
In non-endemic areas for heartworm, ongoing prevention isn't necessary. However, if traveling to a location where heartworm is present, it's crucial to use preventatives to protect your pet from this serious disease, which is spread through mosquito bites. We recommend Simparica Trio for this purpose, as it only requires treatment during your period of travel, plus one month before and one month after the trip. This ensures your pet stays safe while exploring new places.
Dietary Advice
Your pet's diet is essential for their overall health and well-being. We offer a variety of veterinary prescription diets specifically designed to meet your pet's unique needs, whether it's for managing kidney issues or supporting dental health. Schedule a consultation with us to explore the best dietary options for your dog or cat. We proudly stock Hills, Royal Canin, Virbac HPM and Purina Veterinary Diets, and can also order your pet's preferred diet if it's not available on our shelves or one of the brands we stock!
Surgery
We believe that desexing is a vital part of your pet's preventative health care. While guidelines previously suggested desexing at around 6 months of age, we now recognize that larger breeds may benefit from a different timeline and this can be breed specific. In addition to routine desexing, we also provide emergency surgeries for conditions like gastric dilation volvulus (GDV) and splectomies, along with various non-routine procedures such as entropion, amputation, cystotomy and cherry eye repair. If you have any questions about the surgeries we offer, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Therapeutic Laser
Laser therapy can be used for treating wounds, muscle damage, joint pain, and more for your beloved pets. Many conditions can benefit from laser treatments, so don't hesitate to reach out to our team to find if your pet is a candidate. We're to help your furry friends feel their best!
Pet Grooming
We can assist in hygiene clips, mat removal, and grooming under sedation to ensure your furry friend is comfortable and well-cared for. For additional grooming needs like deshedding or whole body trimming, as well as routine bathing, feel free to contact our friendly staff for recommendations on local groomers. Your pet's grooming experience is our top priority!
Export and Travel
We can help you navigate the requirements for traveling with your furry friends to destinations like the Cayman Islands, Germany, Spain, Mexico and more! Each location has its own set of regulations, so it's crucial to do your research and consult the CFIA for the necessary paperwork. We're here to assist you in completing the required forms, vaccinations, and preventative care to ensure a smooth journey for you and your pet.

Traveling with your dog to the USA? Please note that new requirements are in place. Dogs must be over 6 months of age, have a microchip, and their owners need to complete the Dog Import Form. Additionally, a valid rabies vaccination is necessary for re-entry to Canada. Make sure to have all the necessary documentation ready for a smooth journey!
